Pintelei, Alexandru: Die Sachsen der Region Bistritz von der Evakuierung bis zum Friedensvertrag von Paris (September 1944 – Februar 1947). In: Zeitschrift für Siebenbürgische Landeskunde. Vol/An. 24 (2001). Nr. 1. pp. 50 – 65.
Opposed to other places in Northern Transylvania, in the region around the town of Bistritz (Bistriţa) didn't take place hard fightings during the automn of 1944. At the end of September 1944, the evacuation of the german population was largely completed. From the middle of October 1944, soviet troups were present in the region and exercised power. Only very few Saxons remained in the town an the surrounding area. Many of the Saxons who escaped the Soviet troups were later sent back from the soviet occupied territories in Austria and Germany. They were arrested in camps under difficult conditions. Soon after their forced return began the discrimination from the part of the communist-dominated authorities who regarded the Germans as fascist collaborators. Even though they regained the romanian citicenship, they could not return to their former houses and the beginning of the communist dictatorship worsened the situation.
