(EN) Since the end of the Second World War, the Saxons of Transylvania have left Rumania for Germany, a flow that accelerated after the fall of Ceausescu in 1989. Their migration, part of the Aussiedler (Germans of central and Eastern Europe and the ex-USSR) movement back to Germany, initially appeared to lead to a break with the regions of departure. However, the territorial restructuring of rural Rumanian localities affected by this emigration demonstrated that the Saxons living in Germany gave continued to be involved in the local life of their old villages, notably in the housing market. At the beginning of the 1990s, the notion of a clean break still prevailed as owners who decided to emigrate sought to sell their properties. A few years later, however, they changed that position, deciding instead to keep their properties in Transylvania and putting reliable surrogates in charge of them. In the next phase, the Saxons have rehabilitated their properties and reestablished old ties. 

(FR) Les Saxons de Transylvanie (au centre de la Roumanie) partent en Allemagne depuis la fin de la Seconde Guerre mondiale, et plus particulièrement depuis la chute de Nicolae CEAUSESCU (fin 1989). Leur migration, rattachée à celle des «Aussiedler» (Allemands de l'Europe centrale, orientale et de l'ex-URSS), est supposée conduire à une rupture des liens avec les régions de départ. Or, les recompositions territoriales des localités rurales roumaines touchées par cette émigration montrent bien que les Saxons vivant en Allemagne continuent de s'impliquer dans la vie locale de leurs villages, notamment par la gestion de l'habitat. Au début des années 1990, une logique de rupture prévaut. Les propriétaires migrants cherchent à vendre leurs biens. Au bout de quelques années, ils changent de position, conservent leurs propriétés et y installent des personnes de confiance. Dans un troisième temps enfin, ils réhabilitent les maisons et rétablissent la relation temporairement rompue.
