Abstract: About one week after the German invasion to the USSR in 1941, units of the Rumanian and German armies set in Jassy, a district town in north east Rumania, and the tensions between non-Jews and Jews intensified. Rumors were spread that the Jews made signals to the Soviet aircrafts bombarding the town and opened fire at the Rumanian soldiers in the streets of Jassy. As a result, in the evening hours of June the 28th, 1941, Jews were brutally assaulted by German and Rumanian soldiers, policemen and the town's inhabitants. Thousands were murdered in their houses and thousands were arrested and brought to the police center, where many of them were shot dead by Rumanian soldiers on the day that followed. This was the "Black Sunday" as the Jews used to call it. The survivors of the extermination and other Jews from all over the town were gathered together and pressed into closed transport wagons and sent to two destinations: one to Calarasi and the other to Tirgo Fumos. Many died of asphyxiation and of thirst or driven mad. At the trials of the Rumanian war criminals in 1948, it was concluded that some 10,000 Jews were murdered in the Jassi Pogrom. Through testimonies and experts commentaries, the film attempts to reveal the truth behind the pogrom, in contrast with the lie and dissimulating of the Antonescu regime and the Rumanian collaborators. The film presents perceptions and historic documents regarding Antonescu's during the Pogrom, the Rumanian collaborators, and the number of victims. The film also tells of rescue efforts by Rumanian, among them Viorica Agarici, a Righteous Gentile.
