Abstract: (En) This article draws attention to the initial interest for history and the way of life of the Slovak migrants settled down in the so-called Lower Lands (Great Hungarian Plain) situated on the territory of the present day Hungary, Romania, Serbia and Croatia after the Ottoman Turks had been expelled (1711). The paper focus on the documents written by Slovak scholars in the 18th and 19th century (Matej Markovič, Andrej Školka, Samuel Tešedík, Daniel Zajac, Ľudovít Haan, Michal Žilinský, etc.).
Authentic reports of the mentioned authors provide valuable information on the process of adaptation, social convergence, interethnic contacts, mutual cultural influences, linguistic and cultural innovations and many other changes in the life of Slovak migrants that were determined by the different environmental, social, cultural and ethnic conditions of their new homeland. The dynamics of cultural and linguistic changes has been analyzed from the perspective of contemporary theoretical and methodological approaches in the study of ethnic minorities and Slovaks living abroad.

(Ro) Studiul pune accent pe începuturile istorice şi pe stilul de viaţă al slovacilor emigraţi, care, după expulzarea turcilor (1711), s-au stabilit pe aşa-numita Câmpie Maghiară (Marea Câmpie Maghiară), pe teritoriul de azi al Ungariei, României, Serbiei şi Croaţiei. La baza articolului stau studiile oamenilor de ştiinţă din secolele al XVIII-lea şi al XIX-lea, lucrările lui Matej Markovič, Andrej Školka, Samuel Tešedík, Daniel Zajac, Ľudovít Haan, Michal Žilinský şi alţii. Lucrările autentice ale acestor autori au servit drept documente valoroase în problema adaptării şi în cercetările legate de convergenţă socială, relaţii dintre etnii, influenţe culturale reciproce, dezvoltarea limbii şi a culturii precum şi de diferite alte relaţii care
au influenţat viaţa slovacilor emigraţi. Dinamica schimbărilor culturale şi lingvistice este cercetată pe baza abordării teoriilor noi şi pe baza metodologiilor legate de slovacii de peste hotare, precum şi de minorităţile etnice.
