Abstract: In this film,Wiesel, Holocaust survivor, Nobel Prize winner and human rights activist, returns to his hometown of Sighet, and tells local inhabitants about growing up in Sighet's small Hasidic community. All of Sighet's Jews were deported to Auschwitz in 1944. Includes archival footage documenting pre-war Jewish life in Eastern Europe, scenes of liberation of the camps, Wiesel receiving the Nobel Prize, his meeting with President Clinton and readings from his first book, La Nuit (Night, 1958).
