Abstract: (En) The Holocaust in Romania (1938-1944) has several characteristics. The anti-Semitic legislation was adopted by various governments, the Jews were victims of pogroms, were deported and died because of the repressions, of the massacres and of the extremely hard living conditions in the deportation areas. The Romanian Jews were deported between 1941-1942 in Transnistria, an area at the East of the river Dnister, administered by the Antonescugovernment. The most affected by those deportations were the Bessarabian and
Bucovinian Jews. Within those two provinces the Holocaust reached its peak, with the largest number of victims being recorded. Tens of thousands of Romanian and Ukrainian Jews died in Transnistria.
