Abstract: (En) The author attempts to place the 19th century Jewish press of Romania in the larger frame of the Wissenschaft des Judentums movement and the broader Haskalah trend. Considering the press of Bucharest as representative for the extremely varied range of 19th century Jewish press all over the country, the article analyzes the evolvement of newspapers involved in the process of political emancipation, tracing them alongside other more culture-oriented publications designed to shape a modern Jewish identity of their readers.
