Abstract: (En) The economic activity of the Jews of Wallachia, from 1859 to 1914, is assessed based on the statistical data of the time. These data refer to their professions, trade firms and industrial activities. The starting point is a theory issued by historian Simon Kuzenets, referring to the general economic structure of Jewish life. Thus, the author underlines the contribution of the Jews from Wallachia to the development of capitalism and to the urbanization and modernization of Romanian society, due to their significant presence in fields such as trade, banking and industry, as well as their absence from the agricultural sector.

(Ro) Am dori să surprindem problema structurii ocupaţionale a evreilor români în contextul teoriilor şi studiilor despre strategiile minoritare. Există o bogată bibliografie care se ocupă de studiul minorităţilor, din care nu lipseşte abordarea istorică, sociologică şi economică, şi care pune accent pe legăturile dintre apartenenţa religioasă ori etnică a grupurilor de minoritari din societăţile conservative şi minoritare. Teoria lui Simon Kuznets - elaborată în 1960 - poate fi utilizată ca instrument de bază în cercetarea subiectului de studiu menţionat.
