Abstract: (En) The illustrated missal, marked Nr. 32 in the Codices Vaticani Armeni codex collection and kept in thc Vatican Apostolié Librarv, originatcs from the Armenian Catholic Parish in Erzsébetváros. The presented page can be divided into two parts. In tec upper unit we can find the anthropomorfic illustration of the Holy Trinity. In the lower unit, which consists of three horizontul bars, the repre-sentatives of the heavenly church (Virgin Mary, John the Baptist, the apostolcs) and those, lead by the Roman pope, from the earthly church who found salvation. Among them, St. Elizabeth of Hungary appears, who was immensely popular among the Armenians in Erzsébetváros as the settle-ment, the former Ebesfalva, was given the name of Erzsébetváros ("Elizabeth-town" today: Dumbraveni) by the initiation of the Armenian settlers, and their church was consecrated in honour of hers, etc.
In the manuscript page, Eastern ( allegoric Holy Trinity-portrayal, orans hand-holding/gesture) and Western (representations of the Román popé and St. Elizabeth, etc.), Christian, furthermorc folkloristic elements (e. g. didactic tonc) are mingling/mixed.
The prcsented Icafof Codex Vaticanus Armenus Volume 32, raises the following ideas:
- The missal was made in 1693, after the union of the Transylvanian Armenians, which took place in 1680. The illustrated sheet presents the popé as the carthly representative of God Almighty. This motif is the visual manifestation of the union's pivotal propostion, the domi-nance of the pope, and an unambigious standpoint in favour of the union.
- After the union, monophysitc tenets still had been living on among the Transylvanian Armeninans. The anthropomorfic representation of the Holy Trinity (portraying Jesus as a human being, in contrast with the monophysitc tenets, which accept Jesus only as a divine nature) is a visual opposition to the monophysitism.
- Due to the appearance of St. Elizabeth and the fact that we find the seal of the Armenian Catholic Parish of Erzsébetváros in the volume, the manuscript can be inextricably linked to Erzsébetváros.
The introduced manuscript leaf well represents the common fcatures of thc objects of Diaspora-arts, namely, that these works of art, besides their arthistorical importance, are owing other- for the Disapora more imporant - local and church historical characteristics, or as it often happens that the objects of the Diaspora do not have any art historical significance, but the ideas they suggest are quite rich and in certain periods, were very much on the agenda. To the latter group belongs the Codices Vaticani Armeni Nr. 32. missal's page, portraying Heaven.
