Abstract: (En) Examining the history of Transylvania in the 17-18th centuries, we can be the witness to a special process of religion- and church history. Armenian people living in Moldavia and Poland settled down en masse in Transylvania and soon they contracted a religious union with the catholic church. They had a separate religious leader in the character of Oxendio Virziresco, the bishop of Aladia, apostolic vicar. Separateness perished temporarily first with the death of Virziresco and soon it has gone irrevocably. The area after Virziresco was full of problems and it contributed to this obscureness that missionaries from Rome, Venice and Lemberg came to the Armenian people to deal with their church. More other organizations tried to have an influence on the Armenian Catholic Church in Transylvania, for example: Sacra Congregatio de Propaganda Fide from Rome, Apostolic Nunciature from Vienna, mechitarist monks from Venice, the catholic archbishop from Lemberg and the Roman Catholic bishop from Gyulafehérvár (Karlsburg). This situation can be easily understood with presenting the personality and activity of a missionary, Minas Barun, who was from Constantinople and was sent to the Armenian people of Transylvania for ministerial works after his studies in Rome. His special and contradictory business caused tension, so he had to leave Transylvania after a few years. His personality is very interesting because he was an inconsistent and special missionary. So we could get to know and illustrate the state of the Armenian Catholic Church in Transylvania after the death of Oxendio Virziresco by Barun's personality.
