Abstract(EN): In this study the author examines the situation of ethnic minorities in Romania, according to the latest census of population (1992.) A special emphasis is given to the Hungarian ethnic minority. The main characteristics of the Hungarians, including age and sex structure, the spatial distribution and some socio-economic features are discussed. The importance of the distribution of the Hungarians by religion is underlined, as well. The author gives an account of the problem of the internal migration in Romania, namely the immigration to Transylvania from Moldavia and Muntenia, without making an estimation of the extent of this process. He compares the data with those received by the Hungarian and earlier Romanian censuses.
