Among others, it covers topics related to the representation of national minorities too, for instance, draft law on the status of national minorities in Romania; the issue of the parliamentary representation of minorities within the context of changing the electoral system to a system with single member districts; issues of autonomy. The monitoring is performed by the RIRNM Documentation Center.

The database can be accessed here.

    03-1

Models of inclusion and political representation of national minorities in a comparative perspective (2008-, ongoing project)

    Research period: 2008-

Research coordinators: István-Gergő Székely, István Horváth

RIRNM researchers participating in the project: István Gergő Székely, István Horváth, Ágnes Kiss

Research objectives: presenting institutional solutions and policies concerning minorities in other European states (but not only), comparing them with legal norms in force in Romania, and critically evaluating these measures. Within this broad project are handled complex institutional arrangements that belong to the domain of macropolitics (for instance, institutional design for power-sharing or systems of personal autonomy), as well as more specific techniques concerning minor but essential aspects of minority protection regimes (for instance, special provisions meant to ensure minority representation). Part of this project, there was a field-research made in Serbia concerning the councils of national minorities.
