Film seminar

The Documentation Centre of the RIRNM invites you on October 13 to the screening of Aljosa (directed by Meelis Muhu). The event is organized within the filmseminar series on ethnic minorities and will take place at the headquarters of the Institute, G. Muzicescu st 5.

Shot between 2005-2007 in Estonia, the film presents a conflict between the nationalist Estonians and the Russian inhabitants, a conflict generated and manifested around the statue of a bronze soldier (the statue is one of the few Soviet monuments that has remained after Estonia gained independence in 1991).

The discussion following the screening will be moderated by Mihai Leaha (specialist in visual anthropology).
